Ugh. For those of you who care about baseball, and I'm guessing it's not many since only Youppi, Rachel, and Jeri read my blog for the most part, the list of players named in the Mitchell report is out. You can read it here. It's a very long list, and it includes everything from some a-list players to unknowns to guys you thought were just good people. It's a depressing list, since all of these players decided to cheat and use substances that are strictly prohibited by their employers. The biggest impacting name on the list to me, personally, is Hal Morris.

For those of you not "in the know," Hal Morris was the 1st baseman on the Reds' 1990 wire to wire World Series championship team. Granted, he's the only person on that team that has been named, but I always pictured him as a stand-up guy. He always seemed to play well and with heart, and seemed like he had the capacity for rational decisions. Ouch, Hal...Ouch. He did play with the Yankees, Tigers, and Royals during his 11 year career, but he spent the bulk of his time with the Reds here in the 'nati.

Cheaters. In my opinion, they shouldn't be allowed back into baseball or into the hall of fame...any of them. I wonder what Selig will come up with to combat this new report, as I'm sure MANY fans will feel violated, like they spent their money on WWE tickets instead of seeing something largely unadulterated like an actual baseball game.  

Welcome back, dear reader! I'm finally done with school for the year so I have more time to write posts and whatnot. Not much has happened in my personal life since we last had our fireside chats. I've just been keeping busy with school and work so I haven't had time to make any major life changes.

My lovely significant other did happen to try out for the new NBC reality show, Clash of the Choirs. She didn't make it, but did get called back after her first audition. Maybe she'll be on the TV, who knows. It was exciting to think about when she was trying out, but now I'm mostly indifferent to the whole thing because of how stupidly set up all reality TV always comes out being. For real, if reality TV is actually reality, someone would have died on Survivor by now. Either that, or some kid would have had a rock dropped on his head during Kid Nation.

The only thing I really wanted to talk about today was the whole Michael Vick thing. For those of you that aren't "in the know," Vick just got sentenced to 23 months in federal prison for his role in a dog fighting operation. I think he got what he deserved, and will come out a better person in all of this, but I'm already tired of hearing about it. All they talked about on ESPN before and during the Monday night game last night was if Vick would be let back in the league after he gets out of prison. Want to know my vote? NO. If he can get back into the league after spending time in prison, then Odell Thurman should be let back into the league. They've both been "suspended" for similar amounts of time, but the main difference is Odell wasn't convicted of a crime ever. Michael Vick killed and maimed dogs, and then used drugs and lied to authorities about the whole damn thing. Odell is now just being punished for being stupid.

I just use Odell as an example here. The whole thing would be very bad for the commissioner's office if they decided to immediately reinstate Vick after he gets out of prison, because it almost makes the office look like they hold their decisions in higher regard. Anyway, I guess this is all hypothetical at this point anyway.
